Ever since College, I have always had a soft spot for a jeweler/sculptor turned industrial designer. The fact that he attended the same college probably plays a part in it. I must say, his designs were all outstanding. He did some work for alessi for a while. His name is Marc Newson.
My most favorite piece of his is the sleek aluminium Lockheed lounge. He has done so many interesting pieces that it is always difficult to choose only one.
I would love to have it in the studio! I gather that a collector already owns it...
It was one of the early pieces. I have always treasured this "lounge" and have always wanted it for my studio.

Marc Newson's work is fabulous! Love the clean contemporary lines. I can see why you admire it, Ceeb. Thanks for introducing him to us.

that is gorgeous!
WOW! Thanks for the info! That is just incredible!
Crazy, I just saw (and ADORED) this lounger in my newest issue of Veranda. It just sold at the 2009 decorative arts auction at Christie's for 1.6 million dollars to a private collector.
I wish I had the money to purchase such beautiful things...though I don't think I could justify spending THAT much - even if I had it! It is really something though!
so say we all!
